Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in Philomath

Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Justice

Inclusivity Committee welcomes all!

Meetings are on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 5:30 PM at Philomath City Hall. Open membership, plus opportunities for appointment to ensure an official quorum (Per Oregon Public Meetings Rules).

In response to the murder of George Floyd, in June 2020 the Philomath City Council formed an ad hoc Inclusivity Committee with an initial assignment to prepare a responsive statement for the community. Since then, the Inclusivity Committee has worked to foster support and growth for DEI initiatives and programs in Philomath. The committee is uniquely structured to include engagement from the greater Philomath community with a focus on consensus that encourages all voices to be heard. This effort has resulted in community programs and events that both highlight Philomath's history and build for a future of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion in Philomath.

Mission, Goals & Objectives Striving for a more Diverse & Just Philomath

  2. providing knowledge building opportunities for city leadership & the community;
  3. offering opportunities for cultural exchange and space for conversations while prioritizing accessibility;
  4. facilitating communication between city leadership and under-represented communities; and
  5. reviewing actions and practices within city governance and providing potential improvements as recommendations to city leadership.
