Business License
The city of Philomath does not require a business license as long as the business activity is an allowed use in the zoning district where the business is located.
Prospective business owners should contact the Planning Department prior to location of a business to verify zoning.
Home Occupation Permit
Businesses located within a residential district must obtain a Home Occupation Permit.
Sign Permits
Philomath Municipal Code Chapter 18.95 regulates the placement of signs. The Planning Department can assist in determining if a permit is required, and should be contacted prior to placing or erecting any sign.
Tobacco Retail Sales Permit
Businesses selling tobacco products are required to hold a valid permit from the city for each location in which tobacco products are sold. Philomath Municipal Code Chapter 5.30 details the requirements for license holders.
