Congratulations to Our Local Winners!

Representing the City of Philomath, Oregon

We are proud to announce the winning entries from our local student contest. These creative and thoughtful submissions reflect a deep understanding of leadership, community values, and civic responsibility.

The winning entries have been forwarded to the Oregon Mayors Association for statewide consideration!

We extend our heartfelt thanks to every student who submitted an entry for the 2026 "If I Were Mayor..." Student Contest. Your ideas, imagination, and dedication to improving your community were truly inspiring.

Each submission reflected thoughtful perspectives on leadership and civic engagement, and we are proud of the creativity and care you put into your work. Your voices matter, and we encourage you to keep dreaming big, speaking up, and shaping the future of Philomath!

What Do the Winners Receive?

Our local winners will be honored with a one-of-a-kind experience at City Hall! Here's what they receive as part of their celebration:

  • A police escort ride from their school to the Police Station

  • A behind-the-scenes tour of the Philomath Police Station

  • A commemorative mayor’s block and gavel presented by the Mayor

  • A Certificate of Excellence recognizing their winning entry

  • A City Council-style nameplate featuring their name

  • A City of Philomath bag to hold their prizes

  • Lunch with the Mayor and a City Councilor or two

  • A behind-the-scenes tour of the Philomath Fire & Rescue

  • A ride back to school in a fire truck
